Welcome to the Mark fortress in Magdeburg! Once a part of the biggest Prussian stronghold, the former cannon ways and barrack vaults transformed into a multi-purpose culture- and-conference centre near the Elbe and in the very heart of the city centre.

Eleven-metre-high vaults, mysterious niches and a big courtyard bordering the half a millennium old city wall form the awe-inspiring scenery for individual events like festive banquets and gala evenings, presentations and conferences, fairs and seminars, workshops and a lot more!

In addition the small hall, the chimney room and the cultural workshop offer space for all your wishes. Graduation balls, class reunions, birthday celebrations, weddings and special family parties take place here.

Our professional and friendly service team answers all your questions and provides services and artists for every occasion. From modern jazz evenings to historical knight’s supper: every cultural supporting program can be arranged!

Our all-the-year cultural program currently allures more than 100.000 visitors per annum into the old vaults for concerts and festivals, exhibits and readings, theatre and films, markets and parties. We also invite concert organisers and artists’ agencies to take use of this very unique venue.

 

Venues for Events

Grand Hall

An eleven-metre-high vault hall surprises guests with an awe-inspiring scenery! The ceiling consists of stunning curves and arches under which various events take place. The mid-level cannon way can be used additionally to offer space for every individual event idea. From the wing doors of the hall it is only a few steps to the fortress’ courtyard. Small Hall

In the upper vault the small hall welcomes visitors to mysterious niches which can be used individually as cocktail lounges, exhibition spaces or a quiet haven. On one day the venue can be used for anniversary celebrations or congress organisers. On other days bands, actors or DJs are on stage. (size: 500 sqm / capacity: 400)

Internal Courtyard

Guests reach the ancient city wall of Magdeburg by going through the imposing historical gateway, where a green plateau surrounded by trees emerges. Party- goers meet here during warm summer evenings at the barbecue, international music stars enchant the audiences and every year at Pentecost the biggest medieval spectacle of the region takes place. Chimney Room

Being once used as the guardroom at the war gate, the rustically equipped vault room in the west wing of the former barrack is today used for events like family parties, Advent celebrations with colleagues, class reunions, graduation celebrations and many other social events. Cultural Workshop

Theatre, lectures, cinema, music evenings, exhibitions and a lot more attract visitors to this relatively new function room in the east wing of the fortress. (size: 80 sqm / capacity: 100)
